WASHINGTON – Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund today launched TV and radio ads in Alaska criticizing Rep. Don Young for his unethical behavior and for his refusal to protect Alaska from the causes of global warming.
“Don Young has consistently refused to support legislation that will protect Alaska from the causes of global warming. He’s the only member of Alaska’s congressional delegation failing to support common sense efforts to reduce the causes of global warming,” said Rodger Schlickeisen, president of the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund.
“The people of Alaska need to know who is on their side. Our ads provide a clear picture of a representative who is more interested in helping himself than helping his constituents,” added Schlickeisen.
Defenders Action Fund’s "Heads in the Sand" campaign previously targeted five anti-environmental congressmen who are ignoring the facts on global warming, while taking large donations from corporate polluters and their lobbyists. Defenders Action Fund also ran radio advertising in the districts of these members and released an online video. The website is www.headsinthesand.org.
Schlickeisen concluded by saying, “Perhaps one reason Don Young has failed to address global warming is because he is more focused on raising campaign cash from the likes of the Veco Corporation executives. The citizens of Alaska should tell their representative to spend less time playing the political money game and more time addressing the critical issues that affect their lives.”
The ads will run in the Anchorage media market and can be viewed at www.headsinthesand.org.
